mccPILOTLOG - Version 4.0 (BETA)
Thank you for your interest in mccPILOTLOG - Version 4.0 (BETA).
Today, over 25,000 crew members use
mccPILOTLOG /
mccROSTER software. On request of many pilots using Mac OS at home, we decided to develop a cross-platform application.
This new cross-platform application is developed under MS Windows, but it runs fine on Mac OS without any virtual Windows platform ! This application may not have the 'look-and-feel' you would expect from native Mac software. However,
mccPILOTLOG is the only electronic pilot logbook offering you the freedom of combining any desktop platform (MS Windows, Mac OS) with any mobile system (iOS, Android, Blackberry, WinPhone, Kindle) !
Here are some screenshots :
The BETA Test program started back in 2013 and continues until all functions are active (estimated Spring 2015). The BETA program is now open to all pilots.
Terms and Conditions
By participating in the Beta Test program, you accept the following Terms and Conditions :
- You understand and accept the fact that bugs will occur and may result in loss of flight data
- You accept the fact that the program is not yet complete and that performance requires further optimalisation
Release Notes - BETA RC8 - 17 OCT 2014
In this BETA build all functions are enabled, except for the 2 following :
Mobile App Sync
mccCloud sync is working :
- from desktop to desktop (Windows and Mac can be combined)
- from desktop to mobile (Android only - iOS expected January 2015)
Due to different technologies, you cannot sync Version 3.x with Version 4.0 ! In Version 3.x the Sync ID has a single trailing digit, like '4H' in PDELUBCPMGPL-4H. In Version 4.0 the Sync ID contains a double digit, like PDELUBCPMGPL-16G. As before, you obtain a Sync ID from the main desktop Settings - Sync PC Mobile page.
During the BETA transition period, the mobile apps can run in Version 3.x or in Version 4.0 mode. The app will automatically detect the Version based on the Sync ID. We have opted to release Android first (december 2014). iOS and WinPhone follow in January 2015.

Airline Interface
mccPILOTLOG imports data from 215 airlines worldwide. Some of those interfaces work off-line (importing a roster file), some connect online (straight with the crew web portal).
In this BETA build, all off-line airline interfaces are implemented and available for import.
The on-line interfaces, that connect straight to AIMS, Sabre and many other portals, are still under development and in-house testing for Version 4.0 The reason for the late delivery is the recent merger of mccPILOTLOG with another company. It was decided to build a more advanced interface based on the experience and knowhow of both companies.
Delivery is planned for Spring 2015. This would conclude the BETA test program, after which Version 4.0 is fully operational.

How to Install the new software Version 4.0
MS Windows
We do no longer support Windows XP. You need Windows Vista, 7 or 8.

Download the Windows Beta RC8 Installer package for MS Windows. After download, unzip the package and run the installer. |
2) |
Convert the database (guidelines are listed below) |
Apple Mac OS
1)

2) |
Some pilots reported they also needed to install Xquartz for Mac OS |
3) |
Download the Mac OS Beta RC12 Installer package for Max OS 10 or later. After download, unzip the package and run the installer. |
4) |
Convert the database (guidelines are listed below) |
BETA RC8 comes with automatic software updates. When a new software update is detected, a notification is displayed in the right upper corner of the application. Contrary to Version 3.x, the new software will not automatically download that update. In the application, click on the Home page notification or go to the Tools - Update Software page to download and install the new update.
Make sure to install the latest update : After installation, start the application and go to the Tools - Software Update page and install the latest update !!
Mac OS : The application is now saved as an exception to your security settings. You can now open the application with a simple double-click, just like any other registered app.
How to Convert the Database from Version 3.x to Version 4.0
In the active Windows based mccPILOTLOG logbook software (Version 3x), do the following steps in the application :
1)
Go to the About page and make sure you have the 15 NOV (or later) Build Date.
(If that is not the case, go to the Tools - Helpdesk page and click on Re-Install Last Update) |
2) |
go to the Tools - Helpdesk page and execute the following command in the Run Action box : mac=beta |

Now, if you have the
ENT (Entreprise) Edition :

4) |
The database is dropped on the Windows Desktop. Move (copy and paste) the converted database ''database.db'' to the following folder : |

C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\mccPILOTLOG\Userdata
- notice the difference between the old location (MCC Pilotlog) and the new location (mccPILOTLOG) !
- override the empty database file with the same name
[Mac OS]
mccPILOTLOG/Userdata
- right-mouse click (or [PC keyboard] Control + left-click or [Mac Keyboard] Apple Cmd + click)
- choose "show package contents"
- goto "Contents/Resource/Userdata"

Error during Database Conversion
Some pilots reported Run Time Error 429 (ActiveX component can't create object) in Version 3.x :

Problem should be fixed. Try the conversion again with Mac=Beta |
If you still get error 429, then do the following actions :
4) |
Download the following component : Rich Client 5 DLL |

5) |
Unzip the ZIP file and drop the files in any location, by preference Windows / System, or in the mccPILOTLOG directory |
