Is this software really FREE ?

Indeed, the Standard Edition is free of charge and comes with an open license.  You can log an unlimited number of flights and the software does not expire with time !

Standard Edition users have free access to all future software updates. There is no obligation to purchase a PRO or ENT user license to receive updates.

Do I need to buy 2 licenses to install mccPILOTLOG on two different computers ?

The license key is linked to your personal name. You can install the software on 9 devices simultaneously with a single user license.

Devices can be any combination of PC, Mac, iPhone/iPad, Android, Blackberry and Windows Phone. Yes, you can mix any number and any platform up to 9 devices (e.g. 1 PC computer, 1 Mac Book, 1 iPad, 1 Blackberry). All devices are automatically synching through mccCloud whatever platform you use.

Whenever you abandon a device and you buy a new one (e.g. new computer or new phone), you can re-use the device ID for the new device any time in the future.

Are logbooks printed from mccPILOTLOG accepted by the Authorities ?

Each state decides individually about the format how pilots must record and report their flying experience.

Some aviation authorities require pilots to use the state's official publication. Most authorities also accept other paper logbook formats, such as binded publications from Jeppesen and ASA. Today, only a few authorities allow pilots to print their flying experience in a loose-leaf logbook or to use an electronic report.

mccPILOTLOG  offers various solutions to meet these requirements :

1- the software comes with many pre-coded official State logbook formats. Print your logbook in any format with a single mouse-click. If your country is not listed, contact the Help Desk to have it added (free service).

2- print your logbook in one of the many private publication formats, such as Jeppesen, Pooleys, ASA, AFE and others. As mentioned before,  mccPILOTLOG  does not intend to reproduce any of these copyright protected formats - You need to buy the original logbook and use our software to print self-adhesive labels !

3- if your authority accepts loose-leaf printed logbooks, you can print your logbook straight from  mccPILOTLOG
. You can customize your logbook with any column.

4- if your authority accepts electronic logbooks, you can create your PDF logbook from  mccPILOTLOG , including your handwritten signature and the signatures from instructors that you have captured through your mobile phone !

5- or, you can export your flight hours from  mccPILOTLOG  and buy your personalized luxury binded logbook from one of the following companies :

Can you scan my handwritten logbook and load all flights in the database ?

There are various methods to log your previous flying experience in the software, such as logging totals per aircraf model or importing data from your self-made Excel logbook or from other electronic logbook software applications. We not offer any scanning or typewriting services.

You can search the web for OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software. This kind of software will read characters from your scanned or pictured logbook. Generally the results of OCR are fair to poor, depending on the quality of the scanned images, the color of ink that was used and the readability of your handwriting.

There are companies that offer OCR and typewriting services to pilots :     Click here

How do I log instructor signatures ?

One of the limitations of an electronic logbook is the instructor's signature. mccPILOTLOG offers two solutions ;

         - the Endorsements page
         - the Scan Signature feature

Endorsements page :   (PRO edition)

Print the Endorsements page and paste it at the end of your paper logbook. Have the instructors sign-off that page.
When you log your flight, enter the reference number, where the instructor has signed, into the the Sign box of the flight or simulator record. When you print your logbook some time later, the number appears in the Remarks column. (click picture)

Scan signature feature :   (ENT edition)

Another option is to use the digital signature scan feature on your mobile phone. Signatures are watermarked with today's date to avoid abuse (see this sample). Images are automatically synched with the PC software for logbook printing. Images have an automatic backup on mccCloud.

Where can I buy label sheets to print my logbook ?

You can purchase self-adhsive labels from most Office Supply stores. Google for ' 1 label per sheet ' or ' 2 labels per sheet ' to find a nearby shop.

We can also supply you with these labels (15 EURO for 100 sheets + shipping costs), but unfortunately in most cases, the shipping cost exceeds the value of the labels... Contact the Help Desk to order.

Can I import my database from another logbook software ?

mccPILOTLOG  comes with a powerful wizard that imports data from several other logbook software applications. The wizard is available in all editions of  mccPILOTLOG , including the free Standard edition.

Flight records from the following programs can be imported with a single mouse-click :

Mentor Flitelog  -  Safelog  -  Stratosoft  -  NC Logbook Pro  -  Skymark Aloft  -  Skylog Pro  -  Pilotlog.co.uk  -  Mikelsoft Crewlog  -  eLog ccpcentral  -  Aviator eLogbook  -  Pilots Pal  -  Log Ten Pro  -  Rosterlog

How do I update my software ?

mccPILOTLOG  does NOT run any resident background process to check for new updates.

The software itself searches for new updates a few seconds after you launch the application.  New updates are automatically downloaded, unless you have disabled the automatic download feature.

New updates automatically self-install at the next start of the application. You do not need to reboot your computer.

How do I transfer mccPILOTLOG to another computer ?

Follow the guidelines as described on the Install Errors page - section 'Other'.

Your PRO or ENT user license key is linked to your name, not to your computer. So, you can enter your license key on the new computer.
