FAQ

Frequently asked questions

This page covers a couple of questions regarding your software user license and the transfer to the new logbook:

We are not shutting down mccPILOTLOG.  The logbook program remains available in its current version. We keep all cloud servers behind this application running.

We decided to no longer update mccPILOTLOG for the following reasons :

  • mccPILOTLOG is built on 32-bit software technology, which does not meet today’s security protocols and performance
  • after 2,600 updates and fixes, it was time to start-over from zero and build a more intuitive logbook, based on 10 years experience, and using new tools

Your lifetime license for mccPILOTLOG remains valid! You can continue to use mccPILOTLOG for as long as you want. We do not shutdown the application, we do not terminate support.

mccPILOTLOG continues to run “as is” in its last Version. We do no longer release new updates. The cloud service (an old 2008 windows server) continues to run as long as technically possible.

Unhappy Corner

Some customers expressed their concern or disappointment, after our announcement that mccPILOTLOG is not further updated:

We do not terminate your license.  Your user license for mccPILOTLOG remains valid for lifetime.

We do not break the contractual agreement with you.  The terms and conditions (view here) of mccPILOTLOG clearly state that we may stop all services at any time, without reason, and without prior notice.  Actually, we are not stopping “all services”.  We do not shutdown the software and we continue to providing you with helpdesk support, just as before.  The only service that we stop is “releasing new updates”.

The decision to stop updating mccPILOTLOG was announced end of 2018.  We continued to releasing software updates until early 2020.

There is no reason for a refund, since we do not break the contractual agreement with you.

Similar to any other software (installation CD) or digital media (music, movies) that you purchase, you hold a lifetime license for these products, you can continue to use these products for as long as you want, but you cannot ask for a refund.

Some of you are upset, because you have paid for a software that is no longer updated. We understand your disappointment.  But we also ask you to put things into perspective :

This logbook may look like “a simple app”, but it consists of hundreds of thousands of software code lines.  Many other logbooks are apps written by a single pilot during free-time.  They come… and go.  We are a solid company, offering software services for the past 25 years.

Your logbook connects with cloud servers in 4 different continents so that your database is synchronizing as fast as possible. We continuously invest in cloud security and privacy protection, to ensure that your data is safe.

We operate from 3 offices in different continents, as to offer you wide support hours.  A team of 30 full-time developers and support agents is working 7 days a week to support your logbook!

Just calculate the monthly cost (30 salaries, 3 offices, cloud servers, 24/7 service), and you’ll understand that we are not greedy at all.  We are just trying to offer you the best possible service.  That service comes with a cost, no software service is free (except social media, at the price of giving away your privacy and looking at ads).

Divide the price you have paid for mccPILOTLOG by the number of years that you are using the logbook.  Please compare that with the pricing of the competition. We believe the price you pay for our services, is very honest, and not disgraceful.
